Wike Appeals to Tinubu: “Help Nigerians, Release the NDDC Audit Report”
Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to release the long-awaited Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) forensic audit report.
In a live interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wike called on the president to prioritize transparency, claiming the audit report has been intentionally suppressed to shield corrupt individuals.
“Let Mr. President help Nigerians. Let him release the report of the forensic audit of the NDDC,” Wike pleaded.
What Is the NDDC Audit Report About?
The audit — commissioned by the federal government — was designed to investigate mismanagement, financial impropriety, and abandoned projects within the NDDC between 2001 and 2019. Though reportedly concluded, the report has never been made public.
According to Wike, the delay is more than bureaucratic:
“The report is being hidden to protect people who would be exposed for financial wrongdoing,” he said.
Wike Pledges Accountability — Even Resignation
In a bold move, Wike offered to resign as FCT Minister if the audit report proves his claims false:
“If what I’m saying is not in the document, I will resign as the Minister of the FCT. I don’t worship the office.”
This statement underscores the seriousness of his call and places a moral obligation on the presidency to act in the public’s interest.
A Lingering Rift with Amaechi
Wike’s plea came just a day after former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi — his longtime political rival — questioned his financial transparency.
Wike fired back, accusing Amaechi of benefiting from luxury kickbacks:

The fate of the NDDC audit report speaks to a larger issue in Nigerian governance: transparency vs. political protection. With billions of naira allegedly misappropriated and development stagnating in the Niger Delta, Wike’s plea resonates with a growing call for public accountability.
Whether Tinubu will heed this appeal and release the report remains to be seen. But Wike has now made it personal — tying his political future to the truth.
