Two of Africa’s biggest corporate giants—United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Dangote Group—have moved swiftly to shut down circulating falsehoods targeting their leadership, reaffirming their commitment to transparency and reputation management.

UBA denounced claims of a supposed divorce involving its Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, labeling the reports “false, defamatory, and malicious.” The bank confirmed arrests have already been made over the alleged defamation and warned of civil and criminal consequences for individuals or platforms amplifying the misinformation.
