Sean “Diddy” Combs Begins 4-Year Prison Sentence at Fort Dix Facility in New Jersey
U.S. rap icon and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially been transferred to a federal correctional facility in New Jersey, where he will serve his four-year and two-month prison sentence for prostitution-related offenses.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs, 55, is now being held at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, a low-security prison located approximately 130 kilometers (80 miles) south of New York City. The facility is known for its rehabilitation and drug treatment programs, which often cater to non-violent offenders.
Combs’ legal team had earlier petitioned for the transfer to Fort Dix, seeking an environment that supports rehabilitation and aligns with his health and safety needs. He is expected to remain in custody until May 8, 2028, barring any successful appeal or early release for good behavior.
From Music Mogul to Inmate: The Legal Fallout
Diddy’s legal troubles began in September 2024, when he was arrested on federal charges tied to prostitution-related activities. After a highly publicized trial concluded in July 2025, the Grammy-winning producer was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
However, the court acquitted him of the more severe allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering, sparing him a potentially decades-long sentence.
Before sentencing, an emotional Diddy stood before the court, expressing deep remorse for his actions.
“I am truly sorry,” he told the judge, fighting back tears. “My behavior was disgusting, shameful, and sick. I have let down my family, my fans, and my community.”
The sentencing judge took into account the time Diddy had already served at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn—one of New York’s toughest pre-trial facilities.
Despite his apology, Combs has filed an appeal challenging both his conviction and the length of his sentence. His legal team argues that the verdict was based on “unsubstantiated testimonies and procedural inconsistencies.”
