Presidency, Atiku Clash Over Oyo Rescue as ADC Demands Action for Borno, Kwara Victims

Boom RadioNG | July 11, 2026

A fresh political row has erupted following the rescue of the Oriire schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, with the Presidency accusing Atiku Abubakar of staying silent on the operation. Atiku fired back, insisting he had publicly praised the military and security agencies, accusing the Presidency of spreading misinformation.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) welcomed the rescue but urged the Federal Government to extend the same urgency to abducted pupils in Borno and over 100 kidnapped residents in Kwara, stressing that every Nigerian deserves equal protection. The party also called for a stronger preventive security strategy rather than relying on rescue operations after kidnappings.
