Powering Nigeria Forward: TCN Boss Abdulaziz Promises Stronger Grid, Stable Electricity in Second Term
The Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria, Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to deliver a more reliable and efficient national grid as he begins a renewed five-year tenure approved by Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in Abuja, Abdulaziz described his reappointment as a “call to greater responsibility,” aligning with the Federal Government’s reform-driven Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at transforming Nigeria’s power sector.

Grid Expansion Hits 8,700MW
Under his leadership, Nigeria’s transmission capacity has surged from 5,000MW in 2015 to over 8,700MW, fueled by major infrastructure upgrades, transformer installations, and strategic partnerships with global institutions like the World Bank and African Development Bank.
More than 80 transformers installed in under two years, alongside upgrades in key substations nationwide, have significantly improved grid stability and reduced system disturbances.

What’s Next: Stable Power for Nigerians
Abdulaziz emphasized that the next phase will focus on converting infrastructure gains into consistent electricity supply for homes and businesses.
“Our priority now is clear—stable, reliable, and efficient power delivery that truly impacts Nigerians,” he stated.
With enhanced coordination, modernized systems, and sustained investment, the TCN aims to bridge the gap between power generation and distribution—one of Nigeria’s biggest energy challenges.
