The House Shake-Up: 27 Defect in One Day
In a separate plenary session, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read out defection notices from 27 House members—one of the largest single-day realignments ahead of 2027.

Winners & Losers:

  • APC gained 14 lawmakers (mostly from NNPP and PDP).

  • ADC emerged as a major opposition destination, securing 8 new members—5 from PDP, 2 from LP, and 1 from APC.

  • APP and Accord Party also welcomed fresh faces.

Notable Defections:

  • Philip Agbese (LP) → APC

  • George Ozodinobi (Deputy Minority Whip, LP) → ADC

  • Ugochinyere Michael Ikeagwuonu (PDP) → APP

  • Two PDP reps joined Accord Party, now ruling Osun State.
