Osun’s ₦8.52bn Lameco Flyover Faces Early Test: Sabotage or Structural Flaw?

Boom RadioNG | July 25, 2026

Barely three weeks after its grand opening, Osun State’s ₦8.52 billion Lameco Flyover in Osogbo has become the center of controversy. Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered urgent repairs and stepped‑up surveillance after a section of the 672‑metre bridge developed a depression following heavy rainfall.

The flyover, commissioned on July 1, 2026, is part of a ₦100 billion multi‑flyover master plan aimed at transforming transport networks across Osogbo, Ile‑Ife, Owode‑Ede, and Ikirun. Officials temporarily cordoned off the affected area while engineers from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure worked to restore the damaged section.

Governor Adeleke described the incident as “an act of sabotage,” urging security agencies to protect public infrastructure and bring culprits to justice. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering durable projects despite political tension ahead of Osun’s off‑cycle governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The episode has sparked heated debate across the state, highlighting the intersection of politics, infrastructure, and public accountability.
