Ogun Police Arrest Man Over Fake Kidnapping Alert, Warn Against Misinformation
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Mr. Johnson Elleh for producing and circulating a false video claiming kidnapping and banditry along the Owode-Idiroko axis.
Police investigations revealed the viral clip was fabricated to incite fear and panic, with no actual security incident reported in the area. The suspect allegedly confessed to creating the video for online attention and engagement, an act the Command described as dangerous and unlawful.

Authorities have reiterated their zero tolerance for fake news, warning that spreading false security alerts undermines public trust and could attract severe legal consequences.
