Novak Djokovic has finally secured the elusive Olympic gold medal, a crowning achievement in his illustrious career. The Serbian tennis legend triumphed over Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 7-6, 7-6 in a thrilling men’s singles final at Roland Garros on August 4.

This victory not only adds to Djokovic’s 24 Grand Slam titles but also completes his ‘Golden Slam’—winning all four major titles and the Olympic singles gold. He now joins the elite ranks of Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams in achieving this remarkable feat.

The match, dubbed a cross-generational clash, saw the 21-year-old Alcaraz face off against the 37-year-old Djokovic. The intense contest, lasting just under three hours, featured two nail-biting tiebreakers, with Djokovic ultimately prevailing.

Overwhelmed by the significance of the moment, Djokovic fell to his knees on the red clay of Court Phillipe-Chatrier, visibly moved. “I put my heart, my soul, my body, my family, my everything on the line to win Olympic gold at age 37. I finally did it,” Djokovic said.

Alcaraz, despite his disappointment, earned a silver medal in his first Olympics, marking the end of a historic encounter.
