Nigeria’s automotive industry is taking a powerful stride into the electric era as Nord Motion is set to unveil Tavet, a forward-thinking subsidiary dedicated to the assembly, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and aftersales of electric vehicles (EVs).

The announcement was made on X by Oluwatobi Ajayi, CEO of Nord Motion, who described Tavet as “the next step in our journey to build a fully integrated ecosystem for sustainable mobility.”

According to Ajayi, Tavet is not just another product line—it’s a complete ecosystem designed to redefine innovation, performance, and customer experience in the Nigerian automotive space.

“We’re entering a new chapter where sustainable technology meets local engineering excellence,” Ajayi said. “Tavet represents our commitment to making Nigeria a hub for electric vehicle development in Africa.”

Electric Cars Designed for the Nigerian Market

Tavet’s introduction marks a significant milestone for homegrown EV manufacturing. The company will focus on producing vehicles that can withstand Nigeria’s road conditions, while delivering world-class efficiency and performance.

Ajayi revealed that the first generation of Tavet electric vehicles will launch soon, with models priced at ₦16 million and ₦32 million, offering consumers flexible options based on their needs and budgets.

Industry insiders view this as a groundbreaking move that could democratize electric mobility across West Africa, helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels and positioning Nigeria as a leader in the regional green mobility revolution.

Building a Sustainable Future

Beyond just vehicles, Tavet is envisioned as a cornerstone in Nord Motion’s larger ambition—creating a self-sustaining, tech-driven mobility network that includes local assembly, renewable energy partnerships, and an extensive EV support infrastructure.

By developing charging stations, battery maintenance programs, and after-sales service centers, Tavet aims to ensure that owning an electric vehicle in Nigeria becomes both practical and aspirational.

The project aligns with the global shift towards eco-friendly transportation, addressing climate change concerns while stimulating Nigeria’s industrial and technological growth.

Why This Matters

With global automotive giants racing toward electric futures, Nord Motion’s move underscores Africa’s readiness to join the conversation. Nigeria, with its vast population and growing middle class, presents a unique opportunity for EV adoption—and Tavet could well be the brand to drive that transformation.
