Nollywood Actress Shan George Recovers Stolen ₦3.6 Million After Social Media Plea
In a remarkable victory against cyber fraud, esteemed Nollywood actress Shan George has successfully recovered ₦3.6m that was deceitfully taken from her by online scammers. The incident, which unfolded on May 3, 2024, involved a sophisticated scam that targeted the actress. Believing that she was singled out through her social media activities, George expressed her relief and gratitude on Instagram on May 8, 2024.

She extended her sincere thanks to her bank and the individuals who were instrumental in helping her recover her funds. Additionally, she acknowledged those who provided financial aid during her endeavor to retrieve her stolen money. During a candid live session, George shed light on the circumstances leading to the theft. She was in the process of procuring her bank statement for a visa application when she fell prey to the scam.

The actress narrated how she was duped by a fraudster posing as a representative from Zenith Bank. “I had reached out to my bank via Twitter, seeking information on how to obtain my bank statement,” George explained. “This fraudster, seizing the opportunity, sent me an email impersonating Zenith Bank, suggesting I could apply for the statement online. Subsequently, I received a series of alerts indicating my money was being drained.” The scam was masterminded by an individual identified as Cecilia Chiagoziem Okoro. George had sounded the alarm on social media just an hour after the theft, appealing to her bank for assistance.
