Nigerian Troops Neutralize Extremists, Thwart Kidnap Plot, Recover Arms in Taraba
In a significant operation to uphold peace and security in Taraba State, Nigerian Army troops from the 6 Brigade have successfully neutralized five violent extremists, thwarted kidnapping attempts, and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Acting on actionable intelligence regarding the extremists’ plan to abduct church members along the Wukari-Tor-Tse and Takum road, troops from the 93 Battalion swiftly responded. In an early morning operation on April 2, 2024, troops engaged the extremists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of four extremists and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one Pump Action rifle, and two AK-47 magazines.

Additionally, on March 27, 2024, troops encountered suspected violent extremists during a patrol in Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area. Responding with superior firepower, troops neutralized one extremist and seized one locally fabricated FN pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a mobile phone belonging to the criminal.
