Nigerian Army Launches 2024 Promotion Board for Warrant Officers in Jos

The Nigerian Army (NA) has kicked off its 2024 promotion exercise to elevate Master Warrant Officers (MWOs) to Army Warrant Officers (AWOs) at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos. The two-week event, inaugurated on October 15, aims to assess candidates on drills, weapon proficiency, military knowledge, and physical fitness, ensuring only the most capable earn the esteemed rank.

Chief of Personnel Management, Major General Yakubu Yahaya, emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness throughout the process. “This exercise identifies exceptional leaders within our non-commissioned ranks,” he noted.

General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, praised the COAS, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, for selecting Jos as the host. He stressed the critical role of leadership in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

Brigadier General Jamiu Are, President of the Promotion Board, called the AWO rank “the pinnacle of achievement” and assured that only the most deserving would be promoted.
