Nigeria Government Raises Electricity Tariff for Band A Customers

In a recent development, the Federal Government has announced an increase in electricity tariff for Band A customers, who typically enjoy 20 hours of electricity supply per day.

During a press briefing held in Abuja, Musliu Oseni, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), disclosed that the revised tariff will amount to ₦225 per kilowatt-hour, a significant rise from the previous rate of ₦66.

Federal Government, Increases Electricity Tariff

It’s noted that Band A customers constitute approximately 15 percent of the total 12 million electricity consumers nationwide.

Furthermore, Oseni highlighted that some customers previously categorized under Band A have been downgraded to Band B due to the failure of electricity distribution companies to fulfill the required hours of electricity supply.
