NAFDAC Uncovers Illegal Alcohol Production Facility in Lagos, Seizes Goods Worth N200 Million
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal alcohol production facility in Lagos Island, seizing goods worth an estimated N200 million. The discovery was made following intelligence reports that led NAFDAC enforcement officers to the Oke-Arin market area, where several packing stores and rooms had been converted into makeshift factories.

The operation, which involved thorough surveillance, revealed that various brands of alcoholic beverages were being illegally produced, packaged, and distributed in the open market. During the raid, over 2,000 cartons of empty bottles, packaged drinks, a mini plastic mixing tank, an improvised filter, and various packaging materials were confiscated.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal activities. NAFDAC has emphasized the importance of public vigilance, particularly when purchasing alcoholic beverages, as the investigation continues. The agency has vowed to prosecute the suspects involved once the investigation is concluded.
