The Super Falcons of Nigeria are one step away from an unprecedented 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) crown after a thrilling 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in a dramatic semi-final clash in Casablanca. The tense encounter at the 13th edition of WAFCON 2025 saw moments of sheer grit, tactical discipline, and a jaw-dropping late winner from defender Michelle Alozie, sending shockwaves through the continent.

This historic win marks Nigeria’s first WAFCON victory over South Africa in three consecutive tournaments, having lost to the Banyana in the group stages of both 2018 and 2022.
