Malami Speaks After Release: “Struggle for Justice Has Just Begun”
Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has broken his silence following his release from custody, describing the experience as a “difficult period” amid ongoing corruption and terrorism-related charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami, who faces a 16-count money laundering case, was granted ₦200 million bail by the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja after earlier detention involving the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a message posted on his Facebook page through media aide Mohammed Doka, Malami expressed profound gratitude to his family, political allies, and well-meaning Nigerians, he thanked key political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi for their support, while criticizing what he described as “media trials and prejudgment.”

Despite regaining freedom, Malami emphasized that his focus has shifted to national justice, accountability, and democratic values, declaring: “The struggle is just beginning—no retreat, no surrender.”
