Jonathan and Atiku Endorse Diri and Melaye for Governorships in Bayelsa and Kogi States
Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have endorsed the re-election bid of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and the election of Senator Dino Melaye as the next governor of Kogi State.

Jonathan, who is from Bayelsa State, urged the people of the state to reciprocate the good developmental gestures of Governor Diri by massively voting for him in Saturday’s governorship poll. He commended Diri for choosing one of his political sons, Chief Mitema Obordor, as Director-General of his governorship campaign council.

Atiku, on the other hand, urged electorate in Kogi State to vote massively for Melaye on Saturday. He said that the time had come for the PDP to regain power and occupy Lugard House in Lokoja.
The endorsements by Jonathan and Atiku are seen as a major boost for Diri and Melaye in their respective governorship bids. Both men are facing stiff opposition from their All Progressives Congress (APC) opponents, but the endorsements from two of Nigeria’s most respected political leaders could give them the edge they need to win.
The Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
