The highly anticipated 4th Michael & Felicia Alabi Memorial National Table Tennis Championships will kick off on Thursday, April 25, in Otan Ayegbaju, Osun State. This annual tournament, organized by the Osun State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA), is supported by the Michael and Felicia Alabi Memorial Foundation and Canada-based Jodal Health Care. With participants from over 28 states competing in 14 events, the championship promises intense competition.
The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has designated this tournament as a ranking event, with the results contributing to the national rankings for 2024. The top seeds in the men’s and women’s singles categories, Akinwale Fagbamila of Ondo and Bisola Asaju of Rivers, will showcase their skills alongside other talented players.

Top Seeds Set to Compete for Podium Finish at National Table Tennis Championships
Akinwale Fagbamila, the number one seed in the men’s singles, expressed his determination to claim the gold medal for his state. He acknowledged the tournament’s continuous improvement and the emergence of new players but remains confident in his training and preparedness for the matches ahead.
Isau Ogunkunle, a Commonwealth Games medalist representing Ogun State, commended the sponsors for their support and the excellent organization of the tournament. He emphasized the importance of such competitions in showcasing athletes’ abilities and expressed his desire to defend his title in the future.
After seven events, Lagos, Ogun, and Kwara currently lead the medal table with two gold medals each, while Ondo has secured one gold medal.
