Blackface Raises Concerns Over Song Similarity, Sparks Music Copyright Controversy

Renowned Nigerian dancehall artist, Blackface, has publicly voiced his concerns over the alleged similarity between his song and a track from Shallipopi’s latest album. In a video shared on his Instagram page, the 50-year-old artist played a snippet of his song ‘Enemy Plan Enemy Fail’ alongside ‘ASAP’, a track from Shallipopi’s new album, questioning the originality of the latter.

Expressing his dismay, Blackface pondered whether Nigerian artists could create music without drawing inspiration from his work. This incident is not the first time Blackface has raised such allegations, as he previously accused Burna Boy, Wizkid, Olamide and Asake of copyright infringements.

The artist emphasized the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and urged fellow musicians to seek permission before using elements of others’ work in their compositions.
