Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake rocks New York & New Jersey
A small earthquake of magnitude 4.8 has today occurred in New York City and an epicenter in neighboring New Jersey state, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The agency reported the quake was with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7, centred near Lebanon, New Jersey, or about 45 miles west of New York City and 50 miles north of Philadelphia.
However, the Fire Department of New York said there were no initial reports of injuries or damage.
According to reports, in Brooklyn, buildings shook, rattling cupboard doors and fixtures.

At the United Nations, which has its headquarters in New York, a Security Council meeting on the situation in Gaza was temporarily paused after the tremor.
Social media users reported feeling the earthquake from Philadelphia up to New York and eastward along Long Island.
People in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Connecticut and other areas of the East Coast unaccustomed to earthquakes also reported feeling the ground shake.
