In a recent interview on Channel TV, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, provided insights into why law enforcement faces challenges in arresting individuals involved in cross-dressing.

Addressing interviewer Seun Okinbaloye’s questions, Adejobi highlighted the complexities law enforcement encounters in tackling this issue.

Adejobi emphasized the difficulty in proving certain cases, likening it to proving allegations of rape in court. He stressed the necessity of credible evidence for successful prosecution.

Regarding cross-dressing itself as a crime in Nigeria, Adejobi clarified that he has not come across any specific legislation labeling it as such. However, allegations often connect cross-dressers to other criminal activities categorized as “unnatural offences.”

While individuals have the freedom to express themselves through cross-dressing, concerns arise when such behavior is linked to criminal conduct. Adejobi reiterated that sufficient evidence is needed to prove any illegal activities.

In conclusion, Adejobi affirmed that while people have the right to dress as they please, the law will intervene if there is evidence of illegal behavior.
