Jose Peseiro has ended his coaching journey with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, following the expiration of his contract in February. Despite reports of negotiations between Peseiro and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to renew his contract, the Portuguese tactician has decided to leave his post.

Under Peseiro’s leadership, the Super Eagles reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they faced a narrow defeat against Cote d’Ivoire. In a heartfelt farewell message, Peseiro expressed his pride and honor in coaching the Super Eagles, highlighting the 22 months of dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and enthusiasm he invested in the role.
The coach extended his gratitude to NFF President Amaju Pinnick, President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, and the entire NFF staff. He also expressed his appreciation for the players, stating that leading them had been a great pleasure.
