High Court sitting in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has today ordered the remand of former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.

The court’s ruling was pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

Dr Agunloye, who was a minister during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and also a former Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), was recently arrested and detained for some days by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged corruption and fraud in the $6 billion Mambilla hydropower contract.

However, the minister denied the allegation and pleaded not guilty to the charge read against him.

Subsequently, Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of his bail.
