IGP Presents Over 2 Billion Naira in Cheques to Families of Deceased Police Officers

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commenced the distribution of cheques totaling over 2 billion Naira to 613 beneficiaries, including next-of-kins of deceased police officers. The ceremony, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on November 16th, 2023, marked the administration’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of all officers, whether serving, retired, or deceased.

The presented cheques cover the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme for the policy years 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023. The IGP, in his address, expressed condolences to the families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes. The total amount disbursed is N2,276,110,966.18k, reflecting the administration’s ongoing dedication to supporting the police force.

This event, the third of its kind under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, serves as a tangible demonstration of appreciation and support to the families of the deceased officers. The financial relief provided aims to ease their burdens during challenging times.

The IGP also commended the Force Insurance Unit and collaborating insurance companies for their exceptional efforts in promptly settling claims. Additionally, he extended sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing police welfare and ensuring the timely release of the insurance premium, highlighting the collaborative commitment to the well-being of the police force.
