The Appeal Court in Abuja has upheld the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State in the March 18 governorship election, dismissing the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three-man panel of justices delivered a unanimous judgment, with no costs awarded, stating that each party involved should bear their respective costs. Governor Mohammed, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

HE. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State
Having contested the outcome, Sadique Abubakar, the APC candidate, initially took the matter to the governorship election petition tribunal in Bauchi. The tribunal, chaired by P. T. Kwahar, affirmed Governor Mohammed’s victory, emphasizing his prior service as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Unsatisfied with the tribunal’s decision, Abubakar proceeded to the Appeal Court to challenge the lower court’s ruling.
