Imane Khelif Advances in Olympic Boxing Amidst Ongoing Gender Eligibility Debate
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif achieved another victory on Saturday, further solidifying her place in the Olympic boxing arena.
This win came just hours after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) publicly defended her and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting amid a heated gender-eligibility debate that has sparked significant controversy.
Khelif showcased her skills earlier this week by defeating Italian boxer Angela Carini in the preliminary rounds on Thursday.
Continuing her impressive performance, she faced Hungarian Anna Luca Hamori, securing a unanimous decision victory that not only propelled her into the semifinals but also guaranteed her at least a bronze medal in the women’s 145-pound division.
