“He Works for Me”: Anthony Joshua Plays Boss as Desperate Fury Says “It’s AJ or I’m Gone” — Wilder Also Waiting

Boom RadioNG | April 12, 2026

Tyson Fury wants Anthony Joshua. Badly. So badly that he’s threatening to disappear again if he doesn’t get him.

But Joshua isn’t the only one calling. Deontay Wilder stepped into the queue last week after his own victory over Derek Chisora.

“He Works for Me”

After Fury’s unanimous decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, the Gypsy King issued an ultimatum.

“If it ain’t Anthony Joshua next, I’m not interested in boxing,” Fury said. “I’ll eat a thousand Easter eggs, go up to 35 stone. I’m out. I’m not interested.”

Joshua’s response was ice-cold.

“It’s on him. He disappears, come back, disappears. It don’t matter to me. I make the big fights. He works for me.”

Joshua also reminded Fury of their childhood: “I’m going to punch you up again just like I did when we were kids.”

Wilder Also in the Queue

Last week, Deontay Wilder—fresh off a victory over Derek Chisora—publicly called out Joshua, adding his name to the growing list of heavyweights chasing the former two-time champion.

The Bronze Bomber, who has his own storied rivalry with Fury, now appears willing to pivot toward Joshua as negotiations linger.

The Decade-Long Chase

A fight between Joshua and Fury has been on-and-off for nearly a decade. Negotiations fell through in 2021 when a bout for the undisputed title was close.

Promoter Frank Warren says Fury has signed. His manager Spencer Brown believes the fight will “100% happen this year.” Netflix even posted that it would take place this autumn.

But Joshua isn’t rushing—and now has options.

The Real Hold-Up

Joshua revealed he was involved in a car crash in Nigeria in December that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends.

“I need to really check out what’s going on with my return to the ring,” he said. “There’s real stuff happening in my life. I’m not ducking no one.”

Respect Paid

Despite the war of words, Fury did pay respects to his long-term friend Ricky Hatton. And Joshua admitted: “In my heart, I’ll fight Tyson Fury tomorrow, especially after watching [this fight].”

But for now, the ball is in Joshua’s court. Fury is desperate. Wilder is waiting. And Joshua is playing boss.
