In a statement released Wednesday, Fubara said his choice followed “deep reflection and extensive consultations,” adding that he would fully support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship race in Rivers State.

The governor stressed that Rivers State must come before personal ambition, while also thanking supporters, the APC leadership, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support throughout the political process.

Fubara, who defected from the PDP to the APC, also addressed the prolonged political crisis involving his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, saying his silence during recent tensions was strategic and aimed at preserving peace.
