Forbes 2025 Africa Billionaires List: Four Nigerians Make the Cut
Dangote Retains Top Spot as African Billionaire Fortunes Soar
Four Nigerian business magnates—Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Mike Adenuga, and Abdulsamad Rabiu—have been named in the 2025 Forbes Africa Billionaires List, solidifying Nigeria’s status as a key player in the continent’s economic landscape.
Forbes released the much-anticipated list on Saturday, March 29, revealing that Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, continues to dominate the rankings for the 14th consecutive year. The billionaire industrialist saw a significant surge in his net worth, which jumped from $13.9 billion in 2024 to $23.9 billion in 2025—largely driven by the valuation of his Dangote Refinery, which officially launched after years of delays.

Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr.
“Aliko Dangote of Nigeria tops the list for the 14th year in a row with an estimated net worth of $23.9 billion, up from $13.9 billion a year ago. The big jump in his fortune is primarily due to Forbes adding the value of his refinery, which opened last year on the outskirts of Lagos after long delays,” the magazine reported.

Apart from Dangote, three other Nigerian billionaires made the cut:
🔹 Mike Adenuga (Globacom) – Ranked 5th in Africa, with a net worth of $6.8 billion
🔹 Abdulsamad Rabiu (BUA Group) – Ranked 6th in Africa, with a fortune of $5.1 billion
🔹 Femi Otedola (First Bank Holdings, Geregu Power Plc) – Ranked 16th in Africa, with a net worth of $1.5 billion
Forbes noted a significant 30% increase in Otedola’s fortune, fueled by the rising stock value of Geregu Power Plc, which surged 40% over the past year due to a jump in revenue and profits.

African Billionaires: A Record-Breaking Year
The 2025 Forbes Africa Billionaires List recorded a major milestone, as the combined net worth of the continent’s wealthiest individuals soared past $100 billion for the first time. In total, 22 African billionaires amassed a collective wealth of $105 billion, a sharp increase from $82.4 billion in 2024.
“It’s no small feat to generate this level of wealth on the continent, where political uncertainty, currency crises, and challenging consumer markets are routine,” Forbes remarked.
