Renowned Nigerian lawyer, Femi Falana, has vehemently denied any involvement in alleged bribery or corruption related to the prison arrangements or money laundering charges against popular social media influencer, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky.

Falana’s response comes in the wake of a viral video by blogger Martins Otse, which made serious allegations against the lawyer and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Otse claimed that unnamed EFCC officials received a N15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges against Bobrisky. Additionally, he alleged that Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for a N10 million bribe.

Falana categorically dismissed these allegations as “infantile radicalism,” emphasizing that he has never met Bobrisky or spoken to him. He clarified that Bobrisky had approached his son, Folarin (Falz), requesting assistance with prison accommodations. However, Falana’s son declined the request, deeming it inappropriate.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has also refuted the claims made in the viral video, stating that Bobrisky served his sentence within the designated correctional facility in Lagos. The Deputy Controller of the Maximum Correctional Centre at Kirikiri, Michael Beson Anukwa, testified before the House of Representatives Joint Committees during an investigative hearing.

The NCoS emphasized that there was no evidence of any preferential treatment or bribery in the case of Bobrisky’s incarceration. The agency reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the correctional system and ensuring fair treatment of all inmates.
