Federal Sports Minister Applauds Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Sports Initiatives in Lagos

In a significant gesture of collaboration aimed at elevating Nigerian sports to unprecedented heights, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, extended commendations to the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for its proactive approach and rapid strides in advancing sporting programs and initiatives.

The commendation came during a recent meeting between the Minister and the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, at the Minister’s office in Abuja.

Enoh congratulated Fatodu on his recent appointment and commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment and remarkable contributions to sports development in Lagos State. Describing Lagos as the nation’s “Powerhouse of Sports,” the Minister pledged the Federal Government’s full support in collaborating with Lagos State to enhance sports development endeavors.

Of particular note to the Minister were the innovative initiatives spearheaded by the commission, notably the Lagos STARS (Sports Talents & Athlete Redefining Success) program, which focuses on identifying and nurturing young talents at the grassroots level. He hailed this initiative as a blueprint for fostering sporting excellence nationwide.

In his remarks, Fatodu expressed gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and outlined Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision for sports in the state. He underscored the commission’s commitment to providing a conducive sporting environment and nurturing sports athletes and talents to position Nigeria as the sports hub of Africa.

Fatodu also highlighted various initiatives and programs being implemented by the Lagos State Sports Commission aimed at enhancing sports development and fostering a culture of sporting excellence.
