El-Rufai Accuses NSA Office of Procuring Toxic Chemical, ONSA Denies Claim
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has raised alarm over the alleged procurement of thallium sulphate, a highly toxic compound, by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
In a post shared on 𝕏, El-Rufai published a letter addressed to NSA Nuhu Ribadu, demanding clarification on reports that about 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate were imported from Poland. He stressed that the chemical, which is odourless and colourless, poses serious risks to public safety if not properly regulated.

El-Rufai’s letter requested details on the intended use, supplier identity, storage arrangements, and oversight by agencies such as NAFDAC and the NCDC, insisting that transparency is crucial to maintain public trust.
However, a senior ONSA official dismissed the allegation, describing it as false and misleading, and confirmed that the agency did not procure the substance.
