Edo State Champions Cancer Awareness with SDGs-Inspired Walk
In a bold step toward promoting cancer prevention and early detection, the Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Edo State Government, led by Ms. Sally Suleiman, organized a Cancer Awareness Walk. This initiative aligns with Goal 3 of the SDGs, which prioritizes ensuring healthy lives and well-being for all.

The walk was more than just an awareness campaign—it was a commitment to saving lives. “We walked not just for ourselves, but for every mother, father, sister, brother, and child who can be saved through timely screenings and access to healthcare,” Ms. Suleiman emphasized.
Dignitaries who supported the initiative included the Coordinator of the First Lady’s Office, Mrs. Edesili Anani; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Marie Bisi Idaomi; and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Irenosen Ihensekhien. Their involvement underscores the government’s dedication to prioritizing preventive healthcare.

To reinforce this commitment, the Office of the Special Adviser on SDGs has announced free mammograms and prostate screenings—a crucial step in early cancer detection and treatment.
“This is just the beginning. Together, we are building a healthier Edo State, where preventive healthcare is accessible to all,” Ms. Suleiman affirmed.
