The Aruna family dynasty is officially underway. Junior Aruna, the 11-year-old son of Nigerian table tennis icon Quadri Aruna, has clinched silver at the WTT Youth Contender Series in Metz, France—his third medal in two weeks.
The run:
Competing in the boys’ U-11 category, Junior opened with a thrilling 3-2 win over Brazil’s Rafael Suguimoto. After a narrow 2-3 loss to France’s Lyazid Idrissi that cost him gold, he bounced back to dominate Nolan Lhuissier 3-0 for silver.

“It was painful that he narrowly lost the gold… but a good experience to compete against the best young players in the world.” She added, “I hope we can take them further so they can achieve more than we did.”
