DSS Arrests Three More Suspects in Kidnap of Nasarawa University Dean

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three additional suspects believed to be part of the kidnapping ring that abducted Professor Samuel Okunsebor, Dean of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University.

Professor Okunsebor was kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon LGAs. He was rescued two days later in a swift operation by DSS operatives. At the time, two suspects — including a woman — were taken into custody.

On Friday night, security operatives expanded the crackdown, arresting three more suspects at a local brothel along the Mararraban Akunza, Lafia–Makurdi highway. According to a security source, the suspects are:

• Yakubu Abubakar (aka Black/Starboy), 25, from the Doemak tribe in Plateau State.
• Usman Abubakar Mairiga, 37, identified as Hausa.
• Sale Babauro Abubakar, 27, identified as Fulani.

The suspects are currently in DSS custody at the state command for further investigation. Officials confirmed the arrests were carried out under a valid detention warrant issued by a magistrate’s court.
