Nigeria’s anti-narcotics agencies have struck massive blows against transnational drug syndicates in a series of high-stakes operations. From the corridors of major international airports to the rugged Badagry-Seme border, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted illicit shipments worth billions of Naira, including a daring scheme orchestrated from behind prison walls.

The “Gutsy” Traffickers: 236 Cocaine Wraps Excreted

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, operatives intercepted a China-based Nigerian businessman, Vincent Chukwudulue, and two Angolans, Mbandu Martins Makiadi and Ngoma Wilson Fernando. Following their arrest, the trio excreted a staggering 236 wraps of cocaine.

  • The China Connection: Chukwudulue, who recently relocated to Guangzhou, China, excreted 52 pellets.

  • The Angolan Duo: Recruited in Luanda with a $3,000 “delivery fee” promise, Makiadi and Fernando expelled 76 and 108 pellets, respectively, while en route to Istanbul.

Prison-Wall Plots: The “Garri” Cocaine Scheme

In a shocking display of criminal persistence, convicted drug kingpin Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, currently serving a five-year sentence at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, attempted to export 1.10kg of cocaine to London.

The illicit substance was concealed within processed cassava granules (Garri). Oladimeji used his logistics firm, Dimeji Express Logistics, to facilitate the move from his cell, but eagle-eyed NDLEA officers at the Lagos airport intercepted the consignment before it could leave Nigerian soil.

₦1 Billion Border Blitz

Simultaneously, the Nigeria Customs Service Seme Area Command recorded a landmark seizure along the Badagry-Seme corridor. During a 3:00 AM operation, officers uncovered 22 packages of cocaine valued at ₦1 billion hidden in a sophisticated “bunker” beneath the axle of a Toyota Highlander.

The “Synthetic” duplex & Toy Guitars

The crackdown didn’t stop at borders:

  • Lekki Raid: A 4-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, used as a laboratory for “Colorado” (synthetic cannabis), was dismantled.

  • The Guitar Secret: In Abuja, a waybill from Enugu containing a children’s toy guitar was found to be stuffed with “Canadian Loud” cannabis.

  • Forest Operations: In Edo State, a raid on the Yoruba Camp in Olumoye Forest yielded 563.5kg of skunk.
