Daniel Bwala Alleges Al Jazeera Edited Interview, Reveals Peter Obi’s 2023 Campaign Approach

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has alleged that Al Jazeera edited his recent interview in a way that removed key context and highlighted selective remarks.

The interview, anchored by journalist Mehdi Hasan, reportedly lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes when recorded on February 11, 2026. However, Bwala claimed that only 49 minutes were published, with an even shorter 8-minute edited version later circulating online.

According to him, the shortened versions emphasized certain statements while leaving out important explanations. Bwala has since urged the network to release the full interview to provide proper context.

Bwala: Peter Obi Once Asked Me to Join His 2023 Campaign

In a separate revelation, Bwala said Peter Obi once attempted to recruit him during the build-up to the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, using former president Olusegun Obasanjo as an intermediary.

Bwala claimed Obasanjo personally called him while he was in London, inviting him to support Obi’s campaign. Despite his respect for the former president, he said he declined the offer.

He added that the move came at a time when some political observers expected him to join Obi’s camp, especially after debates surrounding the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket during the election season.
