Colin Udoh Honoured as Obong Udeme Usanga, Lays Father to Rest in Akwa Ibom Royal Ceremony
Renowned Nigerian journalist and sports media personality, Colin Udoh, has officially ascended into royalty with the traditional title Obong Udeme Akaninyene Colin Udoh Usanga, becoming the Obong Ufok Nung Anwana Nung Ubo Udua (Chief of the Nung Anwana Royal Family) in Mbiabong Itam, Akwa Ibom State.
The coronation ceremony was held on Thursday, July 25, 2025, marking a deeply symbolic moment as it coincided with the beginning of the funeral rites for his late father, Chief Cosmas Stephen Udoh, who passed away on April 26, 2025.
A vigil mass was conducted in honour of the late Chief at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Itam, followed by a requiem mass on Friday morning. Mourners gathered from far and wide to pay tribute to the respected patriarch who had a distinguished career in the insurance sector. Chief Cosmas served with distinction at NICON Insurance, rising to become Regional Head of Agency and Bayelsa State Branch Manager before retiring with honour.
