Appeal court to deliver judgement of Kano Gubernatorial election
The Appeal Court sitting in the federal capital territory has scheduled the judgment for the ongoing governorship electoral dispute between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for tomorrow, Friday, November 17, 2023,
Due to this development, security has been tightened across Kano State.
On September 20, 2023, a three-man panel of judges of the Election Petition Tribunal in Kano led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay sacked the Kano Governor by declaring 165,663 of his votes invalid because they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

His votes were thereafter calculated to be 853,939, while those of Nasir Ganuwa, his main rival in the All Progressives Congress (APC), stood at 890,705.
The governor then headed to the Appeal Court, describing the judgement as “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice”.
He pleaded that the judgement of the tribunal be set aside.
