Alan Fisher, Irish Chef, Breaks Two Cooking World Records
Alan Fisher, an Irish chef based in Japan, has broken two cooking-related Guinness World Records titles: longest cooking marathon (individual) and longest baking marathon (individual).
For the longest cooking marathon (individual), Fisher clocked in a time of 119 hours and 57 minutes, which is more than 24 hours longer than the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci. For the longest baking marathon (individual), Fisher recorded a time of 47 hours and 21 minutes, beating the previous record held by Wendy Sandner (USA) by over 16 hours.
Fisher’s record-breaking attempts were even more impressive considering that he did them back-to-back, with just over a day of rest in between.

Fisher is the owner and chef of Kyojin Stewhouse, a restaurant in Japan that focuses on Irish cuisine. He was inspired to attempt the world records after learning about them while participating in the “I Love Ireland” festival in Tokyo in March.
Fisher’s record-breaking attempts were challenging, but he was supported by the people of Matsue, the town where his restaurant is located. He says that he couldn’t have done it without their encouragement.
Fisher’s achievement is a testament to his dedication and passion for cooking. He is an inspiration to chefs all over the world.
