Abuja Court Grants Former CBN Governor Emefiele N300m Bail Amid Alleged Procurement Fraud Trial
Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Emefiele, embroiled in a procurement fraud trial, has secured bail amounting to N300 million from a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. Justice Hamza Muazu, in his ruling, mandated sureties to possess Certificates of Occupancy and titles within Abuja’s Maitama District. Emefiele must deposit travel documents with the court registrar, stay within Abuja Municipal Area Council, and be confined to Kuje Correctional Centre until bail conditions are met.

Emefiele faces allegations of procurement fraud, initially charged with N6.5 billion offenses, later reduced to six charges totaling N1.2 billion. His trial is set to commence on November 28.
