James Earl Jones, the iconic voice behind characters like Darth Vader and Mufasa, has passed away at the age of 93. Known for his unparalleled baritone and a career spanning seven decades, Jones left an indelible mark on stage and screen.
Despite not landing the leading roles his contemporaries Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte did, Jones enjoyed a career of unmatched longevity. From his first film appearance in Dr. Strangelove (1964) to his reprisal of King Joffer in Coming to America 2 (2021), his versatility as an actor and commanding presence never waned. He became a Broadway legend, winning two Tony Awards, most notably for The Great White Hope in 1969.
