Nigerian Fencing Federation Secures ₦40M Equipment for 2024 Junior Epee World Cup
The Nigerian Fencing Federation (NFF), Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading fencing body, has secured ₦40 million worth of state-of-the-art fencing equipment ahead of the 2024 Junior Men’s Epee World Cup. The prestigious international event is set to take place in December, marking another milestone for Nigeria as a host nation.
The equipment donation comes from Absolute Fencing, a top-tier USA-based fencing gear manufacturer. Their contribution includes five premium aluminum fencing pistes, each measuring 1.5m x 17m, essential for the competition. This donation highlights international recognition of Nigeria’s growing influence in the sport.
Gary Lu, President of Absolute Fencing, expressed his company’s commitment to supporting the development of fencing across Africa. “We are pleased with the Nigerian Fencing Federation’s progress and dedication to advancing the sport in Nigeria. As part of our commitment, we are proud to provide these fencing pistes to help facilitate the success of the 2024 Junior Men’s Epee World Cup in Nigeria,” Lu stated.
Adeyinka Samuel, President of the Nigerian Fencing Federation, was equally enthusiastic, noting that this donation is a major boost to their preparations for the World Cup. “Nigeria is proud to host another international fencing event, reaffirming our position as Sub-Saharan Africa’s frontrunner in the sport. This donation of high-value equipment not only ensures we can host the event with world-class standards but also encourages other stakeholders to support our efforts,” said Samuel.

This World Cup will mark another chapter in Nigeria’s journey to become a dominant force in global fencing, being the only Sub-Saharan country to hold the right to host such a prestigious tournament. The event is sanctioned by the International Fencing Federation (FIE), headquartered in Switzerland.
