Dapo Abiodun Elected Chairman of Southern Governors’ Forum

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State emerged as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum during a consensus-driven meeting attended by sixteen governors. The forum, which had been led by the late Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State until his passing in 2023, unanimously entrusted Abiodun with the leadership role.

In a statement following the meeting, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu emphasized Abiodun’s leadership acumen and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the forum effectively. Abiodun, in turn, pledged to lead inclusively and efficiently.

Collaborating closely with his Vice Chairman, Professor Charles Soludo (Governor of Anambra State), Abiodun aims to address critical regional issues proactively. “This honor bestowed upon me by my esteemed colleagues is deeply appreciated,” Abiodun stated. “Together, we will ensure quality governance across our states and foster exceptional regional development throughout Southern Nigeria.”
