The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant arrest, apprehending former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, in connection with an ongoing N8,069,176,864.00 money laundering probe. The arrest took place at the EFCC’s Federal Capital Territory Command, where Sirika is currently meeting with investigators to address allegations of fraudulent contracts awarded to a company owned by his younger sibling, Abubakar Sirika.

The investigation focuses on conspiracy, abuse of office, diversion of public funds, contract inflation, criminal breaches of trust, and money laundering during Sirika’s tenure in office. The contracts in question, totaling N8,069,176,864.00, were awarded to Engirios Nigeria Limited, owned by his brother Abubakar, who is a civil servant. The EFCC has also detained Abubakar Sirika, who is providing valuable information regarding the financial activities of the Aviation Ministry during his brother’s tenure.
