Cubana Chief Priest Granted N10M Bail by Lagos Court Amid Naira Abuse Allegations”

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, a bail of N10 million with two sureties in like sum. This decision comes after the celebrity bar man pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the naira during a social event at Eko Hotel in Lagos.

During the court proceedings, the defence counsel challenged the court’s jurisdiction and presented a bail application on behalf of the defendant. The prosecution did not oppose the bail application, and after the charge was read, Cubana Chief Priest pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel emphasized the defendant’s health condition and status as a first-time offender with no prior criminal records. Additionally, it was highlighted that the defendant is an employer of over 1000 individuals, emphasizing the impact on their livelihoods.

The prosecutor left the issue of bail to the discretion of the court.
