Governor Adeleke Enhances Security Measures in Response to Yoruba Nation Agitation

Following the recent invasion of the Oyo State government secretariat by Yoruba Nation agitators, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has taken proactive steps to bolster security around key government facilities. In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke directed the immediate mobilization of joint security teams to safeguard the State Government Secretariat, the Government House, and other vital government buildings, including the headquarters of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

The governor’s directive aims to prevent any potential replication of the Oyo State incident in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. Emphasizing the importance of a united Nigeria, Governor Adeleke called for a renewed commitment to ongoing constitutional amendments that seek to establish a truly federal system in the country. He urged agitators to actively participate in the reform process, advocating for adjustments that grant states greater autonomy and responsibilities.

Governor Adeleke highlighted the significance of dialogue within the constitutional framework, citing the ongoing constitutional amendments that aim to decentralize power and empower the states. He emphasized the need for collective support in realizing the vision for a reformed federal system, aligning with the efforts led by President Tinubu.

In a related development, police authorities in Oyo State, in collaboration with other security agencies, apprehended 20 suspects in connection with the invasion of the state government premises in Agodi, Ibadan. The operation also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and ATM cards from the suspects.
