EFCC Reviews Malabu Oil Fraud Case: Dismissal of Charges, Change of Counsel Considered”

Boom RadioNG | April 5, 2024

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated a review of the Malabu OPL 245 fraud case, following the dismissal of charges against former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. The EFCC is also examining the conduct of the prosecuting counsel, Offem Uket.

The review aims to explore the possibility of an appeal and potential change of counsel due to the Commission’s dissatisfaction with Uket’s handling of the case. However, it is important to note that this intention is unrelated to the speculations circulating in certain media outlets, suggesting compromise by the parties involved.

The EFCC has not accused any of the parties of misconduct nor made any conclusive statements regarding ongoing investigations. The public is urged to disregard misleading information and await further updates on the matter.
