Nigerian Army Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Intercept Illicit Drugs, and Capture Armed Fighter in Coordinated Operations

In a swift series of operations, Nigerian Army troops deployed for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency missions in Katsina and Zamfara States have dealt significant blows to terrorist activities.

In Zamfara State, troops targeted the stronghold of notorious terrorist kingpin Hassan Yantagwaye, responsible for kidnappings and terrorism in North West Nigeria. The operation resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists, seizure of arms, and destruction of terrorist camps.

Meanwhile, in Ogun State, vigilant troops intercepted 441 wraps of suspected Cannabis Sativa in a Mazda Saloon car, abandoned by smugglers upon encountering the army. The seized items will undergo further investigation by appropriate authorities.

In Katsina State, troops engaged in intense combat with terrorists across multiple locations, neutralizing eight terrorists and recovering weapons, military gear, and stolen goods.

In Ebonyi State, during night patrols, troops encountered armed Effium militias, capturing one fighter and recovering an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. The captured suspect is undergoing preliminary investigation.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commends the bravery and dedication of the troops in these successful operations, assuring the public of the Army’s unwavering commitment to its constitutional duties.
